MONDAY'S RIDES!!!

Hey Everyone!

We had a great week of rides last week, despite the colder temperatures and dreary skies.  But this week looks like the weather is starting to get back on our side.  Tomorrow's weather is looking really good.  Sun, high of mid 60's, and very little wind.  It's going to be a great day for a ride!

Without further ado, here are the routes for tomorrow:

The A Group routes will now have town line sprints marked on the map.  We will ONLY sprint for the marked sprints as other town lines along the routes are not safe for a group sprint.  In addition, as it is still early in the season, we will be regrouping at the top of all climbs.  Please get to know the route ahead of time as the A group ride is a fast pace and there will be potential for getting dropped.

Again, tomorrow's going to be a beautiful day, so we hope to see all of you out there.

CEC Women's Ride

Hello Ladies!

Last week's first ride was GREAT!  We followed the route as planned, and enjoyed the just over 20 miles of rolling hills.  Everyone did really well, and I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow (hopefully some new faces too!).  You can check out Wednesday night's ride by clicking on ROUTE.

There is a chance that the weather might not be in our favor, so keep tuned into the blog, facebook or call the shop to find out about cancellation.  Check into last week's post for reminders for what to bring on the ride.  It might be on the chillier side as well, so a great suggestion for cool weather are arm and leg warmers.  Let us know if you have any questions.

See you tomorrow!

Monday's Rides

Although the weather is going to be a little cold this week, we're still going to have some great rides!  Up first are our Monday rides.  Here are the routes:

Both groups will leave the shop promptly at 5:30 and ride out of town together.  As the groups make their way past the rotary and onto route 83, the A group will pick up the pace and the groups will split.

We know that the weather looks questionable for tomorrow, but we are planning on riding unless the weather makes us cancel.  We will cancel the ride by 3:30PM on Monday.  Stay tuned to the blog and our Facebook page for all the updates.

Hope to see everyone tomorrow!

CEC Women's Ride

Hello Ladies!

I'm so excited that we are having our first club ride of the season tomorrow night! I have a great loop planned that will all get us back into the swing of things. Just like the other shop rides, we'll meet up between 5-5:15pm to ride out no later than 5:30pm. If you are new to our club rides, please stop into the shop before the ride to sign our ride waiver form.

Here are a few things to prepare you for tomorrow:

1. Make sure you have plenty of water
2. Consider bringing a quick snack like GU, Honey Stingers or Hammer Gel to keep you charged
3. Having a blinky light is always a good idea even though we'll plan to return before sunset
4. HELMET
5. Repair kit - tube, tire levers, CO2 or pump (I've gotten a lot of practice at changing tubes, so I'm very happy to help)
6. A bike that is road ready and safe. This could be the first ride of the season for some, but please, make sure you know for certain that your bike is running smoothly.
7. Tire pressure! Checking your tire pressure before a ride can save you from flats and make it easier to ride. The recommended psi is indicated on the wall of your tire.

Please check out the route ahead of time to familiarize yourself with the area and the type of terrain. This is an ALL LEVELS NO DROP ROAD ride, meaning whether you are a new or seasoned rider you are welcome to join, you can be sure that we will not leave anyone out on the road, and a road bike is strongly preferred (the terrain and pace might be difficult on a comfort or hybrid style bike). The pace of the ride will be determined by the group. I would like to encourage however, on hills and descents, riders can cautiously pass other riders and/or take terrain at your preferred pace but please, wait up at an approaching stop light or sign and/or slow your pace until all riders have rejoined group. The main objective is to have fun but I hope all of you can consider this an opportunity as well to strengthen your cycling skills and bodies.

I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow night!

ROYCE'S RIDE! Tonight!

For the first time ever...it's ROYCE'S RIDE! We'll be meeting at the East Longmeadow shop a round 5PM and rolling out no later than 5:30PM. This is a B-style recovery ride. All abilities welcome & no-drop. We do ask that everyone get to know the route prior to the ride. Come out, have fun, and get a little exercise too! Hope to see you all tonight!!

This season is already in full swing!

What an awesome ride(s) we had last night! We ended up having 12 people in the A group and 16 in the B group! Not a bad turnout for our first official ride of the season. The B group ripped through 27 miles and the A group ended with 32. Both groups wound up back at the shop at the same time and right before sunset. Thanks again to everyone who came out! See you all again soon!

GROUP RIDES START THIS WEEK!!!

Hi Everyone!

We hope that you all are enjoying this amazing weekend. We're putting together the plans for this week's rides. As always, check in on the CALENDAR and ROUTES pages for all the info on the rides.

Also, the weather looks great for this week and especially on Monday! 90º!!!

Here's what's in store for this week:

MONDAY:
Our normal group rides start with both an A and B group ride. As usual, the A group is a very fast pace and you should know the route prior to leaving the shop as we rarely regroup during the ride. Our pace on these rides are upwards of 20pmh average and are determined by the overall group. The B group is our "recovery" and "no-drop" ride. The pace is again determined by the group, but will remain somewhere around 17-18mph average. We will regroup at various points throughout the ride.

We will be gathering at the East Longmeadow shop around 5PM and both groups will roll out promptly at 5:30PM. We are still battling the daylight, so the length of the rides will be shorter to start and will build as we have more daylight.

All the routes for the rides are available on our MapMyRide.com page and on our ROUTES page as well. For those of you with Garmin bike computers, you will be able to download the routes via our MapMyRide.com page.

Here's the routes for Monday's rides:

TUESDAY:
RIDE WITH ROYCE! CEC ambassador and team rider, Royce, is going to be leading out a group ride from the East Longmeadow shop every Tuesday at 5:30PM. Just like our Monday rides, we will be gathering at the shop at 5PM and rolling out promptly at 5:30PM. This is going to be a B group ride, the average pace will be around 18mph, and it will be a "no-drop" ride.

We'll post the route for the ride in the next couple of days, so stay tuned!

WEDNESDAY:
IT's LADIES night!!! Our women's specific rides will be kicking off on Wednesday. This is an all ability and "no-drop" ride. CEC ambassador and team rider(and team manager) Jen Audia will be leading these rides. Stay tuned to the blog and our Facebook page for more info.

THURSDAY:
For our first mountain bike ride of the season we are going to Robinson State Park. We will be meeting at the parking lot next to 106 High St. in Agawam around 5:30. We'll roll into the woods no later than 6PM. As we only have a small amount of daylight we are asking everyone to bring their lights so we can stay out a little past sunset. If not everyone has lights, we'll plan a loop that will get us back before sunset.

If anyone has any questions, just shoot us an email or send us a message on our Facebook page. See you all out there!

WE'RE ON THE "BOOK"

Better late than never...we're finally up on Facebook. Swing by to keep tabs on us!

GO TEAM GO!

What a showing we had at the first Root 66 race of the season yesterday!  Fourteen of the CEC crew hit the start line for some awesome singletrack shredding.  Dry conditions made for a fast course, and elevation clocked in at about 500'/lap. The CEC team held it down and took in two podium spots.  Nathan locked up a solid second place in Men's Single Speed and Christin was killing it in Women's Cat 1 with a second place as well.  Great photos of the event taken by Coppola Photography! We hope to see more of them on the trails.  Race results below.  Thanks again to everyone on the team.  See you at the next race!  Root 66 #2 - Fat Tire Classic (Winding Trails)
